The other thing is that the Personal Trainer Walking “game” is pretty simple. Put the “Activity Meter” in your pocket and walk around. At the end of the day (or the end of a couple days) just start the game, click the Activity Meter and it transmits the data to the game. It tracks how many steps I’ve walked and when I’ve walked.

I’ll get a video of this up soon as well.

There is a game available for the Nintendo DS called Personal Trainer: Walking that came out earlier this year. The game, a term that should be used loosely, allows you to track your walking information by using the two Activity Meter accessories that come with the game. Basically, the Activity Meter is a pedometer.

I saw this earlier and thought about purchasing it but for $50 is was a bit expensive. Amazon has it on sale right now for $19.98 so with a few dollars shipping I couldn’t pass it up. Should be interesting to see exactly how it works.

Right now I don’t have any long distance walks planned but come Spring time I think I’ll be walking a lot more. In the mean time I think I’ll use this to see how many steps I take at work and stuff like that. I’ll post further details once I get the game.

Check out the website here: http://personaltrainerwalking.com/

And a funny/goofy video promoting it.

We went to the National Arboretum in Northeast DC. They have some koi there that normally you can feed. Unfortunately they apparently don’t allow the feeding in the Fall/Winter so the video isn’t as cool as it could be. These are some big fish though.

I’m thinking I should buy a new pedometer. I’ll look for something cheap online but if I can get the same price I’ll just buy one this weekend somewhere. I guess Target or Walmart should have a small selection, right?

A quick bit of math using numbers from the maps shows the walk was about 27.02 miles. Who knows how accurate that is though. Which brings me to two things I haven’t pointed out.

1. The GPS iPhone app wasn’t working for me that day. Apparently I should have made sure it was up to date before setting out on the journey.

2. The pedometer fell off during the beginning of the walk. I looked to check it around an hour in to the walk and it was nowhere to be found. That kind of sucked. I was hoping to at least know how many steps it was.

These are things I need to consider more carefully next time. Next time?!?!? Right afterwards I thought I’d never attempt another walk like this. Now that nearly a week has gone by I’m not sure that’s the case. I can do two things.

1. Walk the same exact walk and try to do it quicker.

2. Walk more miles… 35? 40? Something like that.

What do you guys think?
